| Description | I just installed the JVCL 3 Beta 1 using Delphi 5 and Delphi 7. I used the installer, and after it completed, I opened Delphi. I got no error message, but the VCL was not present (JCL was) I tried to add DJclVcl70.bpl, but it was not a design-time package. I'm not sure what bpl’s chould be present in the BPL directory, but attached is a directory listing. | ||||

I think this is "gotcha", that I have also run into. In the installer you need to select the packages to be installed separately for each version of Delphi. i.e. Click on Delphi 5 and select the packages you want to install in Delphi 5, then click on Delphi 7 and select the packages you want to install in Delphi 7. You may have selected no packaged to be installed in Delphi 7 and that is what you got. |

It seems none of the JVCL packages where built. Maybe you didn't select the packages for each installed Delphi version as described in the previous note? |

I was not aware that you had to do this in two steps. First you should select packages (jvcl\ install.bat), what I obviously missed. Then you do the install (jcl\ install.bat) what I did and what I can remember was the only thing you had to do in previous versions. However I got an error for D5 And it was: Compiling package: JvJansD5D.bpl Borland Delphi Version 13.0 Copyright (c) 1983,99 Inprise Corporation JvJansD5D.dpk(40) Warning: Package 'JvJansD5R' will not be written to disk because -J option is enabled JvJansD5D.dpk(40) Fatal: Internal error: P665 |

Compiling with the VCL 3 Installer did not help, but using D5 IDE and compiling JvJansD5D.DPK helped. Checking D5 and D7 in the the VCL 3 Installer resulted only in installation of D5. You have to set focus on each Delphi version and set the checkboxes for that particularly version. The checkboxes for Delphi versions is confusing in that way. I would prefer radiobutton for product (Delphi version) as you cannot group the settings for different versions. I also noticed that if you got an error with one version, the next version was not processed. Seems that everything is OK for me now. I think we can close this issue. |
