Summary0003017: JVCL components do not apear on Delphi2005-3 toolpalette (JCL components however do appear)
DescriptionLS,

I installed a brand new Delphi 2005 than I installed some components by LMD. When I than started Delphi I got an error stating it cannot use the BPL file. So I send these guys an email and they told me to update my Delphi with the updates 1,2 and 3. So I did. The error was gone and my LMD tools work in both Win32 and dotnet. Than I decided to try the Jedi components (they look very good) I downloaded your latest 3.00 version. Installing the JCL components was no problem and works just fine in the Win32 environment.

Then I tried to install the JVCL components (tried almost all options that the installation utility will provide). I get no error not even when starting up Delphi. I just do not get the JVCL components in the tool palette.

I tried to add a new tab and add them manually. When I open the BPL directory in the "installed dot net components" and when I choose ALL FILES. I see plenty of JVCL......... But no matter which one I choose. If I select a JVCL..... file i get the following error.

The format of the file 'Jv..........bpl' is invalid.

Am I doing something stupid why it will not work........

Any hints as to what to try.

Some further info

I use Windows XP prof dutch
my windows XP boots from D, delphi etc. is installed on D
768Mb internal memory
plenty of gigabytes free

kind regards,

Clemens Linders

OOps,

In my hurry to install Delphi 2005 and my components (which were divided in Win32 and dotnet) I just thought that the Jedi tools also were divided like this. And that they just called them JCL versus JVCL. Ofcourse when you think of it these letters probably have to do with Visual component and Non-visual component.

However a question remains, will you get a dotnet version?? And aprox. when??

Kind regards,

Clemens Linders

The JCL ist FCL + Borland.Vcl.SysUtils/Classes/Contnrs ready. At least the non WinAPI related units like JclStrings or the container classes. Units like JclFileUtils are have limited functionality due to "removed" Win32API calls.

The JVCL can at least be based on the VCL.NET. A WinForms JVCL would cause a complete rewrite of all components. And that is something none of us will do.
Some units of the JVCL already compile under VCL.NET like JvWizards.pas, JvToolsEdit.pas, JvSpeedButton.pas, JvJVCLUtils.pas, JvJCLUtils.pas, JvTabBar.pas, ... but in comparision to the amount of units the JVCL has the ported units made 1% of the component library.
