Summary | 0004678: rename batch files from .bat to .cmd
Description | .bat gets run by default with COMMAND.COM, thus 16-bit, which is slow and must pass each other call back over the 32-bits boundary. .cmd is run by cmd.exe by default

Are you using Windows 95, 98 or ME ? Windows 2000, XP and Vista start batchfiles with cmd.exe. And under 64 bit OS there is no command.com. In order to see the ntvdm.exe process (16 bit virtual machine) you have to explicitly start command.com. But that doesn't mean that renaming the files is out of question. |

There is no point in doing this |
